Wait for Your Time

“Instead of worrying about what you can’t control, shift your energy to what you can create” Roy Bennett.
Too many of us want to be the stars and we get frustrated when we don’t play as much as we’d like or when we aren’t featured in a prominent role. Instead of finding the opportunity too many close a door by becoming impatient, frustrated and let negative energy seep in. Last night in the National Championship game you had the 2 best teams in collegiate football featuring the 2 best players in the nation. While both of them delivered, each team had a role player rise to the occasion and make significant marks on their team and the game.
For Clemson, you had a walk on freshmen (yes walk-on as in no scholarship), Hunter Renfrow. Renfrow surely used this opportunity to earn a scholarship as he had 7 receptions for 88 yards and 2 TDs. In the other 14 games combined he only had 26 receptions and 3 TDs.
And then you had the forgotten senior, OJ Howard for Alabama. He had not scored a TD all year, so he responds by having 2 on the biggest stage possible. He could have complained and pouted throughout the year as the passing game never focused on him but what did he do, “he was patient” and waited his turn (before last nights game he had amassed only 398 yards and 0 TDS) so he responds for 208 yards and 2 TD).
Two guys with different paths but with the same mentality at least for last night. A great example to all athletes to focus on what you can control so that when and if your time comes you are ready to grab it.
