Vision Boards for Success

When I trained for marathons and then ultra-marathons, the first step in my journey was to create a vision board.  I knew at some point in my training that I would need these visuals to help me motivated toward my goals. I would keep my board on my refrigerator as a visual reminder of why I was doing what I was doing.  On those days I didn’t want to get out and run, it often provided the push I needed.  I have since taken this tool to athletes and teams I work with.

The use of visuals for athletes, has become a useful tool for reaching goals. Visuals activate the creative right-side of your brain and allow you see new possibilities. In addition to providing strong boost of motivation, they also create positive mindsets that can help you change your habits and behaviors into productive ones that will help you reach your goals.

If you are looking for a new addition to your preseason this year, consider having a vision board party.  Use this time for team bonding, as each individual creates the inspiration that will help them throughout the year.
