Being Responsible

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.
John Wooden

Taking responsibility for your life and not living as if you are helpless to what happens to you. We all are given challenges, adversities in life. It’s how we respond that makes or breaks us,

Most of the problems we experience in life are because we fail to take responsibility. It’s easier to blame others and not to see how we could have helped the situation or what we did to contribute.

What problems have you had or do you have that are a result of you not taking responsibility?

Is it the official’s fault you lost the game?

Is it the coach’s fault for not playing you when you showed up late?

Is it the teacher’s/professor’s fault for failing you when you didn’t study?

Is it your parent’s fault for grounding you when you lied to them?

Is it your teammate’s fault for missing the pass you threw over her head?

Is it your teammate’s fault for getting more playing time than you?

Is it your coach’s fault that you don’t have any energy because you stayed up all

So maybe some of these problems or similar ones apply to you. But you have a good excuse right? You’re unappreciated, misunderstood, mistreated, your coach doesn’t like you, everyone is against you, you can’t do anything right.

Do you realize all of these are excuses? Blaming others or blaming circumstances might make us feel better but it doesn’t solve our problems and we then continual fail or never meet our potential.

Your Challenge:

Think of ways you don’t take responsibility. If you want

to increase your mental toughness, if you want your relationships with others to improve, if you want to achieve greater success then find 1 thing a day that you usually blame others for and start doing something about it.

When we want to do something we find a way, but when we don’t we find an excuse.
