The majority of us either start the day off with a shower or end the day with a shower (some of us both). Why? We like to end the day by washing away all the sweat, grime, dirt, etc. from the day in order to sleep better. Or we like to start the day off fresh.
What if we did this mentally everyday? What if we gave ourselves a “mental shower”? What if we created a ritual or routine that would rid ourselves of the mental debris that build in our minds throughout the day or night? Would we not be more productive, successful and happier if we ended or started the day with a mental shower.
One way to do this is to list on a piece of paper all the negatives, frustrations, disappointments, regrets, etc. of the day and then flush them down a toilet or tear up the paper and trash it. Then take a few minutes to create a fresh mind, full of positive or productive thoughts to carry forward into the new day (use music, think about what you are grateful for, fuel your confidence tank, positive self talk, etc).
The key is to have a routine- a consistent time and a consistent method of what you do to rid yourself of the negative and to create a more positive, productive mindset. Try this for a week and see if a habit doesn’t start to form in addition to more positive, happier thoughts. A shower a day washes the dirt away!
