“It’s not how we make mistakes, but how we correct them that defines us” -Rachel Wolchin
When you drop something, what do you do? Stop, and pick it up. When your shoelace is untied, what do you do? Stop, and tie it. And so on. You get the picture. When little things happen, we stop and fix them.
Now apply this to your craft. If you know what you are doing isn’t correct or right then stop and fix it. Often instead we continue down a path that doesn’t produce the results we desire. When you take the power you have to change things, you get back on the right path.
Regardless of your goal or pursuit, there will be mistakes made. It’s natural and a part of the process to learn and grow on your journey. However, the mistake doesn’t have to be permanent or derail you longer than you allow it. Nor does it have to be followed by another mistake.
Today look for mistakes that you can learn from and use them to get you back on track. Use your response to define you, not defeat you.
