Find A Way

Yes, this is a post about my beloved Heels.  However it is also lesson for every athlete, coach, and team out there.  Last night was a perfect example of you don’t have to play pretty to win. You don’t have to be perfect to win. In last night’s championship game, no one shot the ball well but what UNC did have was timely shots. No one looked pretty out there- it was an ugly game but champions find a way to win.

Too often athletes hang their heads when they aren’t shooting or hitting well but champions know its only a matter of time and that the next one maybe the one that changes everything. In my early coaching days, I had so many players get caught up in their swing and that each shot had to be perfect and some would be upset even if they won the point but it was ugly. I vowed then to preach over and over again to “just find a way”. That’s what sports and life for that matter is all about. Forget what it looks like or that you have made mistakes. Keep fighting and put yourself in a position for the tide to change. And as Joel Berry, Roy Williams and the rest of the Heels did last night (as well as all tournament)… FIND A WAY!
